A costumer brought in an old rocking horse that was in pretty rough shape. He wanted his grand daughter to enjoy it but as he himself had played on it as a child, it was in need of a great deal of work.

Previously having passed it on to his son, this rocking horse was now going to be enjoyed by a third generation. We were happy to be able to help with this sentimental restoration.

Disassembly has begun and the old bentwood supports will be sent off to a machinist to be replicated in metal, ensuring that this horse will work smoothly and be safe for his grand daughter to play on.

Next, the piece is disassembled, filled, repaired, and re-glued. With the prep sanding and priming complete, the first stage of the two tone palomino colouring is applied.

With all repairs and finishing complete, the horse was then retrofitted by grandpa with a custom leather mane, tail and ears; and with an authentic replica saddle and reins, his grand daughter will feel like a real cow girl.

Happy to have been part of this collaboration, this project is a perfect example of how Turner Restorations works closely with our clients to achieve their goals.
